Bangor/Acadia National Park, Maine

I rented an airbnb on a lake in Maine with Auggie and Bo! It was a pretty far trip for each of us but we saw some amazing sights and got to hang out, so I think it was worth it. I wanted to go because I read that the Milky Way is very visible from Acadia National Park on a new moon, and SOMEHOW by pure chance, there was also the Perseid meteor shower visible those same nights (I had no idea when I booked the place, I only found out like a week before the trip).

The dock at the airbnb. We looked at the stars almost every night from the dock because it was the perfect view.

There was an amazing view of the sunset from the dock as well. The lake itself was pretty quiet, we saw people on jetskis once and some small boats a few times. We heard loons the first few nights. When we saw the meteor shower on the first night, there were mostly small meteors but we also saw some REALLY big meteors that basically looked like fireworks. It was so cool, I wish I got video or something but I'm writing this so I don't forget.

Iced coffee in Bangor. :>

Strawberry shortcake on the dock. I dropped the lid in the water and Auggie jumped in to get it. ;m;

Another view of the sunset.

We went to Bar Harbour (or "Bah Habah" as Auggie and Bo like to say). It was very touristy but it also very nice. Lots of little shops and restaurants. I also didn't realize that people just straight up live in Acadia.

A cute little swamp area. We heard a lot of "frogs".

In his natural habitat.

Some views of Witch Hole Pond. We saw like 4 beavers just chilling and nibbling on food.

Some photos of the Milky Way that I took. I used my phone so the quality isn't great. The view in person was breathtaking though.

We visited the Orono bog boardwalk, which was very cool! There were all kinds of plants and I especially loved the little purple pitcher plants, which I saw had water in them and bugs were crawling inside them. :3 This was a pretty popular spot, there were quite a few other people.

A mashed potato pizza I got in Bangor! Mashed potato is my favorite unconventional pizza topping, hehe.

"Orange creamsicle" turmeric drink I got.

We drove past this and I managed to get a cryptid photo during the bus ride home. Pants being used as pots for flowers???

We got bubbletea and some Asian snacks, and I saw these really cute glass sake bottles and HAD to get one even though I don't really drink.

On the first night, we originally planned to drive to Acadia and see the Milky Way and meteor shower, but when I looked, it was 2 hour drive each way. :/ We just laid on the dock and looked at the stars for like 2 hours and still got to see the Milky Way. The meteors were amazing too, and we could hear some people across the like exclaim when they saw one, haha. The next day was cloudy and rainy so we didn't stargaze and mostly just walked around Bangor. The next day, we went to Bar Harbour and then into Acadia. We hiked to Witch Hole Pond and then when it got dark, headed to Otter Cliff and stargazed there for a while. The meteors were still visible but not quite as bright or intense as the first night. This was where I took my photos of the Milky Way. It was very dark that night, and there were some other people behind us but they left so we got the cliff to ourselves. The last full day we hung around Bangor, got ice cream, and stargazed. We could still see the Milky Way and meteors but again, it wasn't as bright as the first night. Sunday morning we all got up as 8, packed and cleaned, and left like an hour before checkout, haha. It was sad saying good-bye but I loved the time I got to spend with my friends.

Another highlight was one night when we all took an edible and then Auggie gave Bo some pringles and she tried to do the duck mouth with the chips but kept laughing, and we all just laughed for what felt like 10 minutes.
